History of Kids Camp

The Owen Hopkins Memorial Kids Rock Camp was established and the first camp held in June of 2011.  Owen was a past President of the society.  His work in establishing educational classes and teaching classes is legendary.  More about Owen

The Society conducts an annual summer program for kids aged 8-17.  They learn about rocks, minerals, fossils, have fun, and start their own collection of minerals.  They normally take a fossil collecting field trip, use lapidary equipment and do projects that they are proud to show off to family and friends.  Attendees receive a tee shirt with the society logo and camp designation.

CampActivities allow students to earn badges from the Future Rockhounds of America AFMS/FRA Badge Program.
